
The Government of the Gambia and the World Bank give D124, 063,000.00) to a total of 312 individuals across the country as matching grant
The Government of the Gambia and the World Bank through the GIRAV Project has awarded matching grant amounting to One Hundred and Twenty-Four Million and Sixty-Three Thousand Dalasi (D124, 063,000.00) to a total of 312 individuals across the country.
His Excellency, President Adama presented the awards to the beneficiaries during meetings in their respective agricultural regions from the 18th November to the 7th December 2024 as part of his ongoing ‘Meet The People Tour’. A total of 18 cheques have been presented. The last cheque amounting to amounting to D4, 469,500.00 was presented on Saturday at a meeting held at the Latrikunda Sabigi Lower Basic School Grounds. It was received by 12 individuals residing within the Urban Agriculture Directorate which covers the Kanifing Municipality and Banjul.
The 312 beneficiaries nationwide include inputs dealers, producers, processors, traders, services providers along the value chains of the priority Commodities of the GIRAV project namely Rice, Maize, poultry, Cashew and Horticulture (including mango).
Their subprojects will focus on agricultural production, marketing, processing, or service provision in the target geographical areas and along the five priority value chains of the project namely Rice, Maize, Cashew, Horticulture (including Mango) and Poultry. The initiative is funded by a Seven-year Gambia Government-World Bank funded project titled “The Gambia Inclusive and Resilient Agricultural Value Chain Development Project” (GIRAV).
