
Gambia Gov’t-World Bank funded GIRAV Project gives over D42m to its Matching Grant Awardees in NBR
His Excellency, President Adama Barrow has presided over the presentation of cheques Amounting to Forty Two Million and Eighty-Eight Thousand Dalasi (GMD42,088,000.00) to 106 farmers in the North Bank Region at Meetings held in Bantanding Wollof, Kerr Ardo and Ngayen Sanjal as part of his ongoing Meet the People Tour. The recipients are part of a total of 312 farmers across the country who won awards under the first round of the GIRAV Project individual Matching Grant Scheme. The president said the gesture forms part of his government's efforts with the support of the World Bank to empower farmers to build resilience and to improve their production and productivity.
Dr. Demba Sabally, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Security, received the cheques on behalf of the farmers and handed them over to Hon. Ousman Bojang, Governor of the West Coast region who is currently Overseeing the Office of the Governor, North Bank Region.
